Prayers & support for Lisa Marie Presley & her family/loved ones.

Prayers for Lisa Marie Presley, her children, and her family/loved ones.

Recently it has been (sadly) reported on and on about the details of Lisa Marie’s divorce proceedings. Having young children, and some over 18, divorce/custody issues are NEVER “fun”. It takes tolls each minute of each hour of each day. Lisa Marie Presley has to be strong for her children as their mother and her decisions will affect each of them throughout their lives.
I hope others will pray for Lisa Marie Presley and her family as well as for our fellow man. This world needs more forgiving, love, empathy, etc. for each of us carries the weights of our decisions. Our actions. And our choices even when there is only one “choice”. We are so “busy” and inundated with bad news/evil far and away, we don’t convey our thanks/love to one another or to our maker which everything flows from.

*** this article was written by Jeff Schrembs 2018 ALL RIGHTS RESERVED ***
I added this, after thought and prayer, true story for context and the hope it will lead to more understanding. More support. More prayers. etc.
t nine years old, after staying with her father over summer break, on August 16, 1977, couldn’t sleep. Her father came into her bedroom, where Lisa was tossing and turning on her white oval shaped bed and consoled her – kissed her forehead – and said goodnight. Hours later Lisa Marie learned of her father’s death through the wailing of her grandfather Vernon, the cooks, members of the Memphis Mafia, etc. it was chaos. Little 9-year-old Lisa Marie picked up the red phone in Gracelands kitchen by the 4 closed circuit cameras (black and white) and put her finger into the first hole (of the telephone number) and repeated this 9 times. Linda Thompson, who had been Elvis’ girlfriend from 1972 (approx) until 1976, answered and heard Lisa Marie say “my daddy’s dead…my daddy’s’ dead”. Linda asked to speak to an adult and confirmed this nightmare was real. Grown men, with various black belts in the martial arts, wept and fell to their knees crying. Vernon was inconsolable and he was frail due to his age and deteriorating medical issues. He went in and out of being alert. Little Lisa Marie tried to comfort her grandfather as she was surrounded by men and women she knew and scores of others she did not. She was told her mother, and Linda Thompson was flying into Memphis. Lisa asked if her father would be back from the ambulance ride. Over the next year, she would see her grandfather Vernon die. She attended his funeral a little more mature and (sadly) knowing the feelings/emotions/loss of her father’s death. Lisa Marie was traumatized x 10000. Her mother, Priscilla, now became the executor of Elvis’ estate as Vernon had died and everything went to Lisa but she was a minor so until she was 18 Priscilla would oversee everything. When her 18th birthday came she wasn’t ready so she let her mother run things until Lisa was 21. At 21 she still wasn’t able so it was extended until Lisa was 25 years old. Immediately upon her father’s death, there were stories written, tv shows about, newspapers full of, etc. the attacks (by so many through decades upon decades ) of hearing so many accused her father of being a drug addict. That he tried to kill himself. That he was really still alive. Lisa Marie is a talented, smart, and loving mother to her children. She never asked for this. Does anyone know how much time it takes to get over your fathers death? Your grandfathers death? Keep in mind this was a very close family. I wish Lisa Marie, and her family, happiness – success – good health – stability – long life, etc. and that this divorce, and the monetary aspects, gets resolved very soon. Jeff Schrembs (google me if want to check my knowledge about these matters) PS – as a footnote Colonel Parker, through court proceedings, was found to have cheated Elvis out of millions upon millions of dollars. That Colonel Parker had not registered Elvis, the music companies Elvis owned, properly which was estimated (in 1980) to have been worth million dollars (in back pay) and about a million each year (for ongoing record sales/media endeavors Elvis did). Between this and the fact that Elvis was, for years at the HIGHEST Federal Tax Brackets as high as NINETY PERCENT, Lisa Marie would/should have received all these monies and a monetary stream increasing each year thereafter.
When one, as this has been my experiences, falls in love and then commits followed by being married before men/witnesses/God it is a beautiful thing. To have children born out of this love is a blessing. Hence, it is horrendous to have to go through divorce proceedings not only for the “adults” but also for the minor children. No amount of money will heal the (temporary and permanent) scars on ones’ emotional state, mental state, physical state, parental state, and even the monetary state regardless of one’s last name (which in this case is beloved but brings forth far too much scrutiny, chatter, gossip, etc. so facts and context matters but always secondary to what is right and the respect and appreciation we each should have for all of our fellow men).
Lastly, I don’t ask (with all sincerity and humility) others to pray, support, show compassion about. not feed into hurtful statements, etc about Lisa Marie Presley because of her name but…in spite of it.

Take care and may God bless you always. Jeff Schrembs    -    www.ElvisCollector.info

Elvis Presley's secret vehicle rediscovered?

Courtesy of Fox News.

Enjoy.

Legend has it that Elvis Presley wanted to be an undercover agent. Turns out, he may have been a good one.
Three-time NASCAR championship winning crew chief Ray Evernham recently visited Graceland to shoot a segment for his Velocity show AmeriCarna about the last car Elvis drove before he died, a  1973 Stutz Blackhawk III.
While he was there, the Graceland folks told him the vehicle he really wanted to see was tucked away in a warehouse out back. There, under a sheet, was a rusty old 1948 Chevrolet Panel Van that they say Elvis used to use to sneak out of Graceland when he wanted to avoid his fans and the press.
Apparently, the King used to put on a baseball cap and a jacket and slip out via a rear driveway when he wanted to go to the movies or shopping, and no one was ever the wiser. One time the truck even broke down on the side of the road and several members of the Graceland staff passed by with no idea that it was the boss that was stranded.
The Chevy has been hidden from public view since Elvis died, and is just the way he left it. Along with his famous 1955 pink Cadillac, it’s purportedly been in Graceland’s collection the longest.
Check out Fox Car Report's interview with Ray Evernham to hear more about the Chevy, and his thoughts on his former teammate Jeff Gordon’s retirement from NASCAR. The second season of AmeriCarna kicks off on Tuesday, February 17th.

January 8, 2015 will be the 80th birthday of Elvis Presley (by Jeff Schrembs)

I know it is summer.
I know we are all busy.
I know that you are tired of me typing the word "know".

But, on January 8, 2015 the 80th birthday of Elvis Aron Presley will occur.

Besides all of the fanfare, specials, etc. I encourage everyone to please; remember, support, seek out, etc. those who are (thank God) still alive and were integral parts of the life (onstage and off) of Elvis.

This list includes, but are not limited to, the following; Marty Lacker, Billy Smith, Red West, Sonny West, Joe Esposito, and Jerry Schilling. Each of these men are living breathing witnesses to the history that Elvis made and they, and their families, made sacrifices (personally and professionally) for (in some cases) three decades.

I would be remiss if I didn't acknowledge those who have shared their talents, memories, and efforts about Elvis online and in wonderful books. These individuals include, but are not limited to, the following: Alanna Nash, Sandi Pichon, Russ Howe, Betty Harper, Sandi Stevens, and Paul Litcher. If you really want to know about Elvis, inasmuch as one can, it is essential that you read these written works.

I have been an Elvis Presley fan, and collector, these six decades now and  I have; read, watched, listened to, etc. (literally) tens of thousands of hours pertaining to Elvis. The individuals I have included herein I have the utmost respect for.

As I have advocated for decades now I would hope that EPE, Lisa Marie, and/or Priscilla begins to HONOR Marty Lacker, Billy Smith, Red West, and Sonny West.

The reason(s) being is that Elvis cared about, loved, poured his hopes and dreams into, trusted, employed, etc. each of these men throughout his life. I believe it is a tragedy that this hasn't occured sooner but even though time is fleeting there should be a concentrated effort to do what is right.

Elvis I wish you a happy 75th birthday in advance.

Take care and may God bless you.

Very interesting facts about Elvis Aron Presley

  • In 1946 Elvis received a birthday present, from his parents, being his first guitar.

  • Financial problems forced the Presleys to leave Tupelo for Memphis in November 1948. Elvis and his parents lived in public housing or low-rent homes in the poor neighborhoods of north Memphis.

  • In the summer of 1953, the first "unofficial" Elvis recording was made when Elvis stopped by the Memphis Recording Service, home of Sun Records, run by Sam Phillips. While Phillips was out, his assistant Marion Keisker helped Elvis make a demo acetate of "My Happiness" and "That's When Your Heartaches Begin."

  • On July 5-6, 1954, Elvis' first commercial recording session took place with Sam Phillips at Sun Records. Arthur 'Big Boy' Crudup's "That's All Right," backed with "Blue Moon of Kentucky," became the first of five singles Elvis released on the Sun label.

  • The first known appearance of Elvis' shaking legs took place during his first major professional performance at the Overton Park Shell in Memphis on July 30, 1954.

  • On October 2, 1954, Elvis made his first and only appearance on the "Grand Ole Opry." An unimpressed audience prompted "Opry" officials to suggest that Elvis go back to driving a truck.

  • On October 16, 1954, Elvis appeared on the Louisiana Hayride, a live Saturday night country music radio show in Shreveport, Louisiana. During his association with Hayride, Elvis met "Colonel" Tom Parker (on January 15, 1955), a promoter and manager of country star Hank Snow.

  • March 26, 1955: Elvis' first television appearance on "Louisiana Hayride"

  • The first riot following an Elvis concert occurred on May 13, 1955 in Jacksonville, FL, after Elvis finished a show by saying, "Girls, I'll see you backstage."

  • In November 1955, Sam Phillips -- working through Colonel Parker -- sold Elvis' Sun contract to RCA for an unprecedented $35,000.

  • Two days after Elvis' 21st birthday in January 1956, he had his first recording session for RCA Records in Nashville. "Heartbreak Hotel" was the first single released on January 27. It became the first Elvis single to sell over one million copies, earning Elvis his very first gold record award.

  • Elvis Presley, Elvis' first RCA album released on March 23, 1956, was the first pop album to reach over $1 million in sales, earning Elvis his first gold album award.

  • Elvis made his first appearance in Las Vegas on April 23, 1956, but played to an older crowd that was not his core fan base at the time. He thus received only average acceptance, which is ironic given the success he experienced in Las Vegas during his later years.

  • After appearing on The Milton Berle Show in June and causing a national furor with his controversial and sensuous performance of "Hound Dog," Elvis appeared on The Steve Allen Show on July 1, 1956. He performed a more modest version of "Hound Dog," singing to a live Basset hound while dressed in a black tux with tails.

  • In August 1956, Elvis began shooting his first movie, Love Me Tender, on loan-out from Paramount to 20th Century Fox.

  • On September 9, 1956, Elvis made his first of three appearances on the Ed Sullivan Show, the top television program of the era, and attracted the highest ratings ever for any television variety show. During his famous third appearance on January 6, 1957, Elvis was shown from the waist up only.

  • "Elvis Presley Day" was proclaimed in Tupelo, Mississippi on September 26, 1956. Elvis returned home to perform two shows at the Mississippi-Alabama Fair and Dairy Show, the same fair at which he had performed at age 10. Nearly 22,000 fans attended Elvis' evening performance, more than the entire population of Tupelo.

  • When Elvis received his draft notice from the U.S. Army in December 1957, Paramount requested a two-month deferment so he could complete filming of his next movie, King Creole.

  • Gladys Presley died in Memphis on August 14, 1958 and was buried at Forest Hill Cemetery.

Elvis Presley earned, and deserved, this induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

It is touching to see John Lennon's children, Julian and Sean, quoting from their Father...John Lennon.

Enjoy the video.

Lets start collecting (of quality) items about Elvis Presley

Congratulations on your desire/intent to start, continue, etc. collecting Elvis Presley Memorabilia!

We have been collecting “all things Elvis” since 1970 and have in excess of 100,000 individual Elvis Presley items. However, the “beauty” of collecting Elvis Presley items is that (a) it is never boring (b) new things are always forthcoming (c) there are so many categories – sub categories to choose from and (d) there are many “resources” to turn to for questions/fun/advice/etc.

Whatever your “passion” is, for Elvis, odds are that you can find it on Online sites including http://www.ElvisCollector.info (which we highly recommend and we THANK Online sites including http://www.ElvisCollector.info for being a part of the “Worldwide Elvis Presley Community”) such as books, photos, DVDs, records, cd’s, etc.

We have always taken the position that “quality trumps quantity”. Now, that may sound “hypocritical” coming from a collection in excess of 100,000 but hey…we have been doing this NOT as a “revenue stream”…but from the heart.

Desiring full disclosure “yes” we do offer, through our Online sites including http://www.ElvisCollector.info Store “ElvisCollectorWorldwide” some wonderful items, but they are offered “from one fan to another” and is a very personal endeavor indeed.

Here are some “guidelines” that may save you some time, money, and minimize any (potential) aggravation:

Photos – Do yourself a favor and check out anything/everything (available on Online sites including http://www.ElvisCollector.info thankfully) by Ed Bonja. Also, check out KingCandids. Both of these sources hand personal, first hand, and ongoing relationships with Elvis during his lifetime. Elvis was the most photographed person…ever so there are so many options in this category but (again) when you have the combination of QUALITY, as you do with Ed Bonja and KingCandids, you are “ahead of the game” (so to speak).

Memorabilia – Paul Litcher is a WONDERFUL source at ElvisUnique. Paul is an ELVIS AUTHORITY and has been for many years now. We are eternally thankful to Paul Litcher as we have used his books, starting in the 70′s, as a “bible” for cross referencing/authenticating Elvis Presley Memorabilia.

Autographs – PLEASE ensure that only after you have “crossed all of your T’s and dotted all of your I’s”, concerning Elvis Presley, before you ever start to TRY to collect/invest in this “category”. There are a few, in our opinion, “legit” sources for “authentication” (including but not limited to the aforementioned Paul Litcher) concerning Elvis’ autographs (excluding any photographs that were issued/imprinted with salutations such as “Sincerely, Elvis Presley – which was very common with RCA, Boxcar, Colonel Parker, etc.).

Records – Our priority would be 78′s followed by 33′s LP (stands for Long Play) followed by 33′s followed by 45′s followed by CD’s followed by cassettes followed by 8-tracks. Our “time frame” priorities would be 1954-1959, then 1969, then 1970-1973, then 1967-1968, then 1960-1962, then 1963-1966, then 1977, then 1976, then 1974, then 1975. But, again, you should “follow your heart” OR in this case “ear” for what YOU like.

Books/DVD’s/CD’s – It may not be “cool”, according to some but there is nothing “wrong” – and everything “right” about going against the grain, but your local Library is a GREAT place to start. Several of our Libraries offer, in addition to books of course, the ability to check out (for weeks at a time) DVD’s and CD’s about Elvis Presley. When you find the items that you “can’t live without”, and we CAUTION you here because it may be that everything you hear/read about Elvis you “can’t live without”, then (a) confirm that you have the monetary means – without harming your financial resources – FIRST and FOREMOST and if so then (b) go to Online sites including http://www.ElvisCollector.info – do a product search – and then buy it! If you find an item you really want, but it is just a bit out of your budget, then see IF the Seller allows you to “make an offer”. If so, then make sure that you review the shipping/handling charges, and disclosures, in addition to the price itself.

When it comes to Elvis Presley books Alanna Nash, and the great books authored by her, is in a class all by herself. These books are a must for Elvis Presley fans worldwide and tells the (true) story of Elvis, onstage and off, and puts things into context. Sensationalism? What aspect of Elvis’ life wasn’t, whole and or in part, sensational?

Misc. – Anything by Marty Lacker is a MUST! Marty was Elvis’ best friend, co-worker, and just a wonderful asset who we are THANKFUL was in Elvis’ life and continues to share his experiences with Elvis fans. Priscilla Presley wrote an honest, heart-felt, and memorable book entitled “Elvis and Me”. June Juanica, who was Elvis love starting in 1955, also is a big THUMBS UP (both the book and the DVD). There are various books, etc. by the (renowned) “Memphis Mafia” but, in our opinion, the “best of the best” are those by Marty Lacker, Billy Smith, Red West and Sonny West followed by Joe Esposito then Jerry Schilling. Jerry was a friend of Elvis’ from Memphis and worked with Elvis for many years. Sonny West also is a great source as well. Lastly, Charlie Hodge (who has passed away sadly) left us with several “insightful” items as well as Lamar Fike (who also sadly has passed away).

The “hard truth” about collecting Elvis Presley items is that very few of us will ever have the “monetary means” to actually OWN things like Elvis jumpsuits, original jewelry, automobiles, personal effects, etc. But collecting Elvis memorabilia (again) should be “from the heart” and if it makes you happy, and it’s legal, then great. There are so many Elvis items available that one could NEVER own everything (contrary to what others have stated) and it would be (virtually) impossible.

Elvis left us (3) three decades of works (i.e. music, movies, etc.) so you have a lot of things to choose from.

Lastly, THANK YOU for being an Elvis Presley Fan. We have found that some of the best, most sincere and caring, people are proud to be Elvis Presley Fans and share our passion, insight, etc. via this blog and through http://www.ElvisCollector.info.

God bless and take care.

Graceland week in Memphis is coming - here is a look back at the 1st one in 1982

Graceland was officially open to the public the first week in June of 1982 (being the 7th).

It had been five years since I was last in Memphis, having drove from Kentucky after hearing the news of his passing on August 16, 1977 at the age of 42.

Even five years later there were so many unanswered questions and we still were dealing with the reality that such a man, such an entertainer, had been so unhealthy and wasn’t able to work though the depression, the dependency, and the tolls that each one put on Elvis the man – the father – the son – the employer – and even the entertainer. As fans we loved him nonetheless.

The crowds were from all over the world. With folded signs, overflowing flowers, and even giant cards where everywhere the crowd turned.

We all waited to start the tour that we had been reading about, hearing about, and planned. We didn’t have the internet or iphones but we had the post office and we had access to CB radios and boy did it help. Short wave radios were another tool to be used in our communication arsenal.

With the announcement of the EPE employee of ” welcome to Graceland Elvis Memphis home the tour will start in a few minutes”.

What was inside those walls? We knew abut the false walls. We knew about the secret driveway through the Church and we even knew about the “top secret” storage area on the Graceland grounds which was (a) not part of the tour and (b) never discussed by any staff.

TO BE CONTINUED

HAPPY EASTER!

Elvis Presley loved Holidays and Easter became a very special time after the birth of his beloved daughter Lisa Marie.

After Elvis was old enough to walk Elvis scheduled Easter egg hunts and loved to see his little daughter finding the eggs and flashing her smile and telling her dad "I found it".
